Outdoor Learning

In Year 9 students make the most of our unique environment through a dedicated weekly outdoor learning lesson. Students look at leadership, teamwork skills and safety in the outdoors. All students have the opportunity to complete three recognised courses:

  • the bronze national navigation award
  • the British Orienteering young leaders’ award
  • the John Muir Award for the appreciation of wild places.

For many students, this leads onto the Duke of Edinburgh Award which is offered to all students in Year 10, which involves three sections (volunteering, physical activity and a skill) and a 2 day self-sufficient expedition.
