About John Ruskin School
John Ruskin School is a fully comprehensive mixed 11 – 16 community school situated in beautiful surroundings. We provide education at the heart of the Lake District for the communities of Coniston, Hawkshead, Langdale and Broughton. However, many students from other areas also choose to travel to our school using subsidised transport. It is a thriving community that promotes high levels of academic and personal achievement for its students
John Ruskin School has achieved the Geography Mark and the Bronze Eco-Schools Award. These awards reflect how much value we place on our precious environment and take every opportunity to use it as a learning resource.
John Ruskin School has a strong history of being an active participant in community events and hosts the Coniston 14 Run, the Guide Dog for the Blind Challenge among many other outdoor experiences and is a member of the Coniston and Crake Partnership and The Royal Geographical Society.
